Introduction:

This pre-congress workshop will train participants in 1st and 2nd trimester uterine evacuation techniques for induced abortion, pregnancy loss, and fetal demise using a combination of didactic and hands-on training and simulation. The workshop will include sessions on 1st and 2nd trimester medical abortion, 1st trimester manual vacuum aspiration, 2nd trimester dilation and evacuation, pain management, and management of abortion emergencies. Hands-on and simulation training will be offered for manual vacuum aspiration, dilation and evacuation, pain management, and abortion emergencies.

Given the changing climate related to abortion throughout Central and South America, the FIGO Congress in Rio de Janeiro is an opportunity to introduce new providers to current abortion technology and expand the offerings of experienced providers.
