Low-tech low-cost highly realistic simulation and team training for obstetric emergencies: Can we do it? – PRONTO International and University of California San Francisco
Date: Thursday 18 October
Room: 204B Shirish Sheth
Time: 08:30 – 12:00
Simulation training for obstetric providers is quickly becoming the gold standard for emergency training. PRONTO International is the leading expert in obstetric and neonatal
emergency simulation and team training in limited-resource settings. In this hands-on and interactive workshop, participants will explore the use of simulation and team-training in limited-resource settings by participating in a high-fidelity emergency simulation scenario and a team building activity. We will “pull back the curtain” and explore the nuts and bolts of simulation set-up and design, and the all-important debriefing. We will identify and discuss opportunities and challenges for integrating simulation into existing training programs, in any setting. Each component of this workshop will consist of a brief introduction followed by a “learning-by-doing” session. It will be done in a round-robin style so each group has the opportunity to participate in each component.
