Joanna Cain
Past-Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee – Gynecological Oncology Track Leader


Professor and Director of Faculty Talent Management, Office of Faculty Affairs,  for the University of Massachusetts Medical School and Vice Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

She has held multiple leadership roles including: President of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO), President of the Council of University Chairs, Vice President of ACOG, and Chair of the international ethics committee for FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) as well as Chaired the WHO Cervical Cancer Control committee and the subcommittee on Cervical Cancer Control of FIGO.

She was Chair of Ob/Gyn Departments at Penn State, Oregon Health Sciences University and Brown.

She presently serves as the Past Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee for FIGO, the Co-Chair of the Advisory Committee for HPV Vaccine Trials for the NCI, as well as continuing her work in women’s cancers globally and expanding models for physician mentorship, engagement, and advancement in academic medical centers through her work at UMMS.

Area of expertise/interest include:
Gyn oncology, especially cervical cancer; ethics.
