César Eduardo Fernandes, MD, PhD, is the Head Professor of Gynecology at ABC Medical School (FMABC) in São Paulo, Brazil. He is the Clinical Director of the Women’s Health and Wellbeing Institute (ISBEM) in São Paulo.
Dr. Fernandes earned both his master’s degree in medicine and his PhD in medicine from the Santa Casa Medical School (FCMSCSP) in Brazil and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at that institution. He obtained the G&O specialist title by the Brazilian Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FEBRASGO).
He is a recognized expert on menopause, women’s endocrinology, and women’s health. He is the author of eight books and many chapters for medical texts, and is cited as the lead author or co-author of numerous articles published in medical journals around the world, including Osteoporosis International, Climacteric, and Obstetrics and Gynecology International. As a principal investigator for more than 20 clinical studies, focusing on human reproduction, contraception, gynecologic endocrinology, climacteric, menopause, and osteoporosis, he has been a frequent speaker at major medical conferences.
Dr. Fernandes is the past scientific director and past president of the São Paulo State Gynecology and Obstetrics Society (SOGESP). He is also past president of the National Expertise Board in Climacteric of the Brazilian Federation of the Societies of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FEBRASGO), current president of the Scientific Committee of the Brazilian Climacteric Society (SOBRAC) and a Scientific Counselor for the Brazilian Osteoporosis Society (ABRASSO). He is the President of FEBRASGO for the period 2016-2019.
