For the 25 Million: Expanding Access to Safe Abortion
This symposium will feature the first public showing of a multimedia tool that will help to frame the global policy discussion around safe abortion. Produced by Population Reference Bureau under the SAFE ENGAGE project, the presentation uses the latest data (such as, that 25 million abortions are performed unsafely each year) and evidence to illustrate some of the policy changes that are needed to improve access to safe abortion. Advocates can use this new resource to make the case for safe abortion with policy audiences and opinion leaders around the world.

Ambassador Dr. Eunice Brookman-Amissah, a physician and a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of the United Kingdom, served previously as Ghana’s Minister of Health and as ambassador to the Netherlands. Dr. Brookman-Amissah is a member of the Technical Advisory Group of the SAFE ENGAGE project.
Charlotte Feldman-Jacobs is Director of the SAFE ENGAGE Project and Associate Vice President of International Programs at Population Reference Bureau.
