All attending delegates are invited to join this interesting symposium where 2 panels of world renowned experts will debate and discuss the issue of rising trends in medical interventions in middle and low income countries during delivery and childbirth that are often unnecessary and at times harmful. These include overuse of ultrasound, c-sections, post partum antibiotics, induction and augmentation of labour, episiotomies that can cause avoidable complications, incur high costs and that limit patient autonomy.
This workshop is suitable for all healthcare professionals (doctors, midwives, nurses, anesthetists) who are deeply concerned about the trends in over-interventions and want to talk about normalization of birth.
